Micro Houses in Crested Butte?

In response to the current affordable housing crunch in our valley, the Town of Crested Butte aims to experiment with micro housing, allowing six so-called deed restricted “micro lots” to be developed in the east side of town. Under town regulations, the maximum size of a home is regulated by the size of its parcel. Developing homes on these micro lots means that a single family residence can be as small as 400 square feet or as large as 1,250 square feet, depending on the lots.

Town Annexation Off the Table

Texas-based developer Cypress Equities has suspended its attempt to annex approximately 44 acres of land adjacent to the northern edge of the Town of Crested Butte. The property is located in Gunnison County so the developer could still create a subdivision per the County’s Land Use Resolution.

Direct Jet Service from Los Angeles

Beginning December 16th, skiers and visitors can fly directly to Gunnison’s airport from Los Angeles. Two flights weekly (Wednesday and Saturday) will connect the two cities until March 26, 2016. This is great news for our winter business and I fully expect my Western US friends to be skiing in Crested Butte this season!
