About Mt. Crested Butte
The Town of Mt. Crested Butte sits high in the Rocky Mountains with an elevation of nine thousand three hundred seventy-five (9,375) feet above sea level and is located three miles north of the town of Crested Butte. Mt. Crested Butte has a population of eight hundred (800) year round residences and is home to the Crested Butte Mountain Resort ski area. The ski area has over fifteen hundred (1,500) skiable acres with 121 total runs, 15 lifts and a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs for all ski abilities. The ski area is also now running 2 lifts during the summer for hiking and Mountain biking with 23 trails now available. The base area has a varied mix of restaurants and outdoor shops that are open during the winter and summer and is soon to be home to the Mt. Crested Butte Performing Arts Center, a 500 seat music and art venue.
Mt. Crested Butte has a blend of larger ski in ski out homes, ski and mountain condos and smaller family homes. Many residences and visitors love the close proximity to the ski area in the winter, the ease of having mountain bike and hiking trails right out your back door and the free year round bus service to and from the town of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte.
