ABOUT McCORMICK RANCH

McCormick Ranch is comprised of seven 35 acre lots on the eastern edge of Crested Butte. They are some of the very few 35 acre parcels from which owners can walk or ride a townie bike to the town of Crested Butte, yet enjoy the peace, tranquility and privacy of open space. Theses ranch parcels allow for one 5000 sq ft. house, one 1500 sq. ft guest house and one 1000 sq. ft. barn or garage. The Paradise Divide views from McCormick Ranch are unmatched in our area.

1021 McCormick Ranch

The guest house and barn have been built on 1021 McCormick Ranch Road. The large finished space above the garage is perfect for a studio or office. The location enjoys magnificent views of the Mount Crested Butte, Red Lady, Mount Whetstone and the town. Easy access to Tony’s trail in the summer and Nordic trails in the winter.

The house and barn have been built to the highest environmental and aesthetic standards. Appearing as an old rancher’s homestead with reclaimed barn wood exterior and rusted corrugated steel roof, the rustic exterior masks a refined, understated interior, the latest in green building techniques and materials, and solar arrays for both heat and electrical generation. With systems designed and engineered by REG, 1021 McCormick is the first LEED Gold certified house constructed on the Western Slope (2008).

All interior and exterior lights on the house and barn are LED, producing clear light with minimal energy cost. The interior walls are coated with American Clay. The trim and doors are solid cherry, custom milled and built by local cabinetmaker David Treadway. David also built the cabinets and custom furniture with cherry and reclaimed lumber.. The handrails in the barn and house were handmade by local blacksmith Ben Eaton, of Get Bent Blacksmithing. The floors are 100 year old reclaimed hardwood flooring. All door knobs and cabinet handles are cast bronze from Rocky Mountain Hardware.

Constructed of structural insulated panels (SIPs), the house is extremely well insulated and quiet. The solar water panels collect heat which is stored in a large insulated water tank to provide extra heat when the sun is down. The panels heat the floors of the house and the hot water supply tank. The large electrical solar array generates excess electricity resulting in an annual check from the electric company. An air circulation system (ERV) circulates fresh air throughout the house while retaining heat when the outside temperatures are low. A humidification system adds humidity to the incoming air, creating a nose, throat and skin friendly interior humidity level and a wonderful sleep environment. VISIT THIS PROPERTY’S WEBSITE
