The GREENHOUSE
Passive solar year-round greenhouse at 2,700 square feet (36 x 72 sqft).
North wall of wheat straw bales, R value=54.
East and west walls and north roof made of structural insulated panels (SIP).
South wall of triple paned polycarbonate glazing resting on a Styrofoam and cement stem wall.
Roof = metal.
Wall of water runs length of building and acts as thermal mass to provide year-round growing.
Beds made of rebar, chicken wire and hardware clothe covered with Ferro cement for waterproofing and strength.
Beds made of cinder blocks and irrigated with drip tape and timers.
Air tubes take warm air from top of greenhouse down into Ferro cement growing beds.
Windows on south side of greenhouse top and bottom open and close with wax hinges.
Cool room (root cellar) in back of greenhouse cooled with fresh outdoor air.
Aqua Star on-demand tank-less water heater.
Three compartment sink, Shower, Composting toilet , Storage room.
The YURT
The 30 foot diameter yurt is 706 square feet. The yurt features a vinyl roof, canvas walls and 2x6 tongue and groove spruce flooring.
The yurt includes a wood stove, propane cook stove/oven and wall heater. Also included: Kitchen sink, counter tops and cupboards, bathroom sink, counter and shelves, composting toilet, loft and storage shelves.
SHED
Straw Bale Shed at 48 square feet.
Load bearing wheat straw bales on rubble trench foundation.
Roof = metal.
CHICKEN COOP
Straw Bale Chicken Coop at 48 square feet.
Load bearing wheat straw bales on ground.
Roof = plywood with water proofing bituthene and straw bales.
