ABOUT BUCKHORN RANCH
Buckhorn Ranch is a private community located about 5 minutes from downtown Crested Butte Colorado and less than a mile from the Crested Butte Country Club. Featuring 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and Upper East River valley, Buckhorn Ranch owners enjoy quick and easy access to Crested Butte’s legendary National Forest Service biking and hiking trails, rivers and snow skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The River Club features 22 parcels with the option of private fishing access to the East River. The East River is adjacent to the entire eastern boundary of Buckhorn Ranch. The Brookside neighborhood is located to the south of the private airstrip and features open spaces and stunning views from its smaller single family homesites and a multi-family component that supports condos and town homes. Buckhorn Ranch amenities include two lakes, a tennis court and a beautiful, brand new front entrance and streetscape with upgraded signage.
RECENT COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENTS
The latest community improvement project is the result of a ton of volunteer effort (including myself and fellow Buckhorn Ranch property owners Bob Silverman, Trish Layton, Grant Bremer and Ben Somrak) and the professional guidance of Margaret Loperfido of Sprout Studio (our landscape architect and project coordinator), Peter O’Rourke (general contracting), Lacy Construction, Spring Creek Landscape Company and Gunnison County.
The installation work commenced during the Fall of 2014 and was completed in two phases . Phase 1 involved re-grading, widening, and paving the main access road into the subdivision from Brush Creek Road. These improvements were intended to make it safer and easier to enter and leave the community – particularly for the school bus and snow plows!
Phase 2 involved adding visual enhancements included the timbered archway pictured, new worm fencing, new signage and new landscaping and mature trees at the front entrance. Additionally, all new street signage, stop signs and yield signs were installed throughout the neighborhood.
